Britney Spears Wins 3 VMA Awards; MTV Goes Cheap

Britney Spears won big at Sunday’s 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home three awards, including Video of the Year.She kicked off the show with Superbad’s Jonah Hill in a pre-taped skit, where he tried to teach her some relaxation techniques.

He ordered her to close her eyes. When she did, he leaned in and tried to kiss her.

411LowDown:  In what was arguably the worst awards show of all time, Britney Spears went home w/ 3 awards.  To begin with, her video was not all that impressive, so her winning was a surprise (each time).

To top off the bogus awards, the show’s host, Russell Brand, was easily the worst host of any show, of all-time.  Sure, the guy is British and has a different type of humor, but he was horrible as host of the 2008 MTV VMAs.  His jokes lacked timing and clarity; his actions & movements implied drunkeness or the influence of drugs.

In addition, it looked like an amateur show.  The stage, the setting, the presentation… everything looked about 1 step above a high school play.  Total crap IMHO.

Seriously, what was MTV thinking… try doing a serious show next year.
