The Washington Redskins, family & friends have all lost someone close to their hearts - Pro Bowl safety Sean Taylor died only 1 day after being shot in the leg during a home robbery.

The robbery marked the 2nd time in less than 10 days that Taylor’s home had been broken into.  The 1st incident was about 9 days ago, and the burglars (?) rummaged through drawers and left a knife on one of Taylor’s beds.

It really makes you wonder if Sean Taylor was targeted for some reason…  a shame.

Taylor sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and went into a coma for a short time.  The injury led to a high loss of blood, which Taylor really never recovered from.  There was hope after he came out of the coma, but he passed away early on Tuesday morning.

The sentences that celebrities are getting these days for their crimes are ridiculous.  Lindsay Lohan gets 1 day for 2 DUI’s, cocaine possession & reckless driving.  Paris Hilton gets 45 days (23 served) for DUI & driving on suspended license.  Michael Vick’s sentence has yet to be determined, but the NFL has already suspended him indefinitely.

I know this probably isn’t the best it could be, but I thought it was kinda funny and hope you do too:

In a shocking announcement today, former Cincinnati Reds player and coach, Pete Rose announced that he placed bets on the Reds in every game they played.� Ok, so this isn’t so shocking since 99% of the world already knew about the gambling scandal, but it definitely confirms without a doubt that Rose lied repeatedly.

“I bet on my team every night. I didn’t bet on my team four nights a week. I was wrong,” said Rose, who accepted a lifetime ban for gambling in 1989.

“I bet on my team to win every night because I love my team, I believe in my team,” he added. “I did everything in my power every night to win that game.”

At stake now (or not), is his legacy and his ability to get into the Baseball Hall of Hame in Cooperstown.� While its unlikely that his current status will change or if Bud Selig will remove the ban on Rose, the admission of guilt comes a little too late in my opinion.�

For 15 years, Pete Rose has lied about gambling on his own team while he was coaching.� He’s done this more or less to try and get elected to the hall of fame, but the lying is probably too much for voters to overlook.� No doubt that Pete’s stats alone are worthy of election, but voters are likely to take character into consideration, if Rose is ever up for nomination again.� During the interview Wednesday on ESPN Radio, Rose also indicated that he’s given up on the notion of joining the Hall of Fame, but 15 yrs of lying lead me to believe he’s just lying again.

Personally, Rose’s on-field play and hit record are enough in my book to put him in the Hall.� The guy should be elected for the way he played, not the way he managed.� What he did was wrong, no doubt,�and continuing to lie about the whole gambling scandal further tarnished Rose’s reputation.

Britney Spears was seen in Scottsdale, AZ smoozing with Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinart over the weekend holiday weekend. The two were spotted at a club on Scottsdale road .

Reports vary as far as what happened at the club… everything from Britney was just saying “hi”, to Britney and Matt “grinding” on the dance floor. I think it’s safe to say that she was just saying hi, especially considering that one of her friends is pals w/ Leinart’s baby’s mama (Brynn Cameron).

Of course Britney has almost been single for 2 months now, having left K-Fed in early November.

Matt Leinart was previously dating Paris Hilton after he left USC.

In related news… Britney reportedly fell asleep only minutes after the New Year. Spears hosted a party at Ceasars Palace’s “Pure” night club, but passed out only minutes after the big moment. Her reps say that she was just tired - that she didn’t drink too much, take any drugs or anything like that.

Heisman Trophy winner, and current Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart is reportedly expecting a baby with USC women’s basketball player Brynn Cameron.

This is an oddity since it was only a couple months ago that Matt was linked w/ Paris Hilton… I guess he got her pregnant and moved on.

Neither Leinart or Cameron were available for comment, but Brynn’s father says that they’re not getting married at this point (and why should they). Matt obviously has other ladies on his mind now that he’s a millionaire.

Cardinals starting quarterback Matt Leinart missed practice Wednesday, but he had a good excuse: He became a father Tuesday night.

Brynn Cameron, a University of Southern California basketball player, gave birth to a boy, Cole, in Southern California. Details were not available.

Leinart and Cameron dated in college but reportedly broke up earlier this year. Leinart was expected to return to Arizona later Wednesday.

Tiger Woods recently withdrew from several golfing events to spend more time with his ailing father, and one can only hope that he was able to enjoy that time before Earl died today, following his battle with cancer.

Only in Hollywood… It’s being reported that recent NFL draftee Matt Leinart is romantically involved w/ heiress Paris Hilton.

This news comes on the heals that Paris is no longer dating Stavros (sounds like a gigilo name doesn’t it?). Leinart has been asked in the past if he was involved with Hilton, but until recently has denied all involvement.

While this might indicate that Matt is happy to be in LA and/or will be visiting often, he recently stated that he’s fed up with the lifestyle and is happy to be moving on. Of course, he was just drafted 10th by the Arizona Cardinals, so he won’t be moving far… this is only if the Cardinals get their crap together and sign him before training camp though.
