There are a few decent movies being released on DVD this week; although there are certainly bigger releases upcoming.

Whether you are a fan of the Redbox DVD dispensers at your favorite grocery store, a faithful Blockbuster customer, a Netflix receive/return guy or the type of person who likes to buy all of their DVDs in full, you’ll appreciate the following list of releases:

Nim’s Island is certainly the top release for this week, but there are several other movies that will have a cult-type following, including Harold & Kumar, possibly Doomsday and Step Up 2: The Streets.

I haven’t seen any of these movies personally - horrible, I know… I wouldn’t mind seeing Doomsday, 21 (a Vegas card counting scheme) and Never Back Down. For the other movies, I might watch them if I get stuck on a flight, bus ride or have to sit in a doctor’s office, but otherwise will avoid.

Eva Mendes‘ new Calvin Klein ad for is too hot for TV! The commercial, featuring a nude Mendes, 34, rolling around on an unmade bed, can only air on networks after 9 p.m.

The commercial was originally banned in the U.S. altogether, before a cleaner, edited version of it was created.

Mary-Kate Olsen “had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger’s home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them,” her attorney, Michael C. Miller, tells Usmagazine.com.The New York Post reported Monday that Olsen, 22, is refusing to talk to federal investigators about Ledger’s death until she is granted immunity from prosecution.

Immunity from prosecution? Sounds like an admission of guilt to me.  Is it unreasonable to think that Mary-Kate and Heath Ledger did drugs together?  While Mary-Kate may not have been at Heath’s place when he died, it’s quite odd to hear that she’s refusing to testify to federal investigators.  If she has nothing to hide, then why seek immunity?  Doesn’t make sense…

Wrestler Hulk Hogan and wife Linda Bollea are embroiled in a bad divorce process at the moment, but that doesn’t mean the Hulkster isn’t still intersted in the ex-Mrs. In addition to the TV shows, hosting gigs and various publicity opportunities the family is taking on, the pending divorce is not an attempt to make (or save) money. There are some reports that the two have separated only to preserve the fortune that Hogan has built over the years as a WWE (formerly WWF) wrestler.

This is highly doubtful, but always a possibility. If some of the recorded tapes of Hulk and his son (from jail) are accurate, these guys would do just about anything to save themselves. The tapes, of course, hinted at some pretty questionable attitudes towards the young man paralyzed in Nick’s street racing accident.

Hulk downplayed the rumors that the two are splitting to save money in the face of a lawsuit, suggesting that it would be pretty tough to stomach his wife of 23 yrs in the arms & bed of a 19 yr old. If Hulk is being honest, kudos to him… but if this is all a hoax, this family should be banned from the U.S.A.

To be honest, I can’t believe that Britney Spears has a music video worthy of a nomination. The last one I saw, she was dancing (poorly) on a stripper pole… go figure.

Considering the popularity of the Jonas Brothers, however, I have a hard time believing that Spears will walk away w/ the VMA. I did here some rumors that she might be performing again at the VMA’s, but other rumors are squashing the originals pretty quickly.

Recent photos of Britney Spears show her in pretty good shape, but it’s probably a bad idea to throw her out there on stage at this point.  She still needs time to come to her senses and get her priorities straight.

This is seriously a total fu** up job by the police in Dallas, after pulling Snoop Dogg’s tour bus over for expired registration.  Two people were arrested, but not the infamous pot smoking rapper -”it ain’t mine dogg”.  Guess it pays to have homies that will take the fall for you and hold all your weed.  For real though… shouldn’t they be arresting everyone on the bus and/or give them some kind of drug test?

Another instance, in my opinion, of a loophole in the laws.  If Snoop was on the bus, then you know the weed was his - why was he not arrested or charged.  All you have to do is listen to any interview he does or hear about other co-stars on his movies going to “his separate” trailer, which is always filled w/ pot smoke.  Granted, there is a “slim possibility” that the Doggfather is innocent and the drugs were not us, but give me a break.

This isn’t too surprising, considering Jolie’s movie work (action star, etc.). I wish people would quit talking to Voight about her kids though, since he really has nothing to do w/ them at this point.  You might recall, his infamous quote on at a red carpet event mis-quoting their names even.  Perhaps Jolie was into girl toys, including barbies, but he was too busy to notice them…

John Mayer is among the celebrities calling for the regulation of how paparazzi conduct themselves.The singer made his argument at a hearing about the matter at L.A. City Hall Thursday.

“I don’t sit before you today to ask that you ban the paparazzi,” Mayer, 30, explained. “I’m asking you to regulate it. Officialize it. Tax it. Legitimize it.”

While I certainly love my fill of celebrity news, gossip & shocking photos, I for one, support what Mayer and others are doing.  The paparazzi need some kind of control; some kind of limitations.   The way that the push the cameras into the faces of the celebrities, block their cars from moving, etc. is just excessive.

The whole problem w/ the paparazzi is, that they are the necessary evil that keeps Hollywood relevant.  If they weren’t out there taking photos & catching stars in compromising positions, the L.A. area would be a town of boredom.

Kathy Griffin, star of “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” on the Bravo network, has given up plastic surgery… at least for now.  Kathy claims to have had several nips & tucks over the years, including: a face lift, eye job and more.

If you look back through photos of Griffin, I think it’s pretty obvious that she’s telling the truth.  Of course, she has no reason to lie about it, since she’s blossomed into a pretty popular comedian and actress.  While she claims that the surgeries had no affect on her life, I guess she still needs that boob job to really make it

Accused cycling cheater, Lance Armstrong, and his (former) girlfriend, Kate Hudson, have reportedly called it quits. Their short-lived relationship is no more, according to sources. This was an odd coupling to begin with, so it is isn’t too surprising that the two have split up.

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong called it quits this weekend after a three-month romance that went public when they were spotted in Austin, Texas in mid-May, Usmagazine.com exclusively reports.

“There was no drama or ugliness – They just decided to end things,” a source close to the couple tells Us. “There is no hatred, just sadness.”

Lance is a good guy, in terms of supporting causes (e.g. cancer research, charities, etc.) and being a general good human being.  There is still quite a bit of doubt, however, that Armstrong won so many cycling races without the help of some type of performance enhancing drugs.  Some of the drugs, just not detectable, would have been easy for Lance Armstrong to use back when he was winning the Tour de France races, but nothing has been proven in court.

Kate Hudson on the other hand, rebounded from Owen Wilson, by hooking up w/ Lance a few months ago.  The actress, a daughter to Goldie Hawn, has had her share of man troubles recently.  Wilson and her broke up several times after drugs got involved.  This writer hopes that Hudson finds a younger man that she can attach to, one that’s not in a band or doing drugs.  But… actions speak for themselves and Kate doesn’t exactly have a good track record w/ men.

This story fits in the “what the fu**?” category, since I don’t think there has ever been an awards show co-hosted by 5 different people.  The Emmy Awards will reportedly have 5 different hosts - all of whom are nominated for “Best Reality Host“.   Within that category is apparently “Game Show Host”, because Deal or No Deal is not a reality show; it’s a freakin’ game show.

The Emmy Awards will have five co-hosts this year: Ryan Seacrest, Heidi Klum, Jeff Probst, Howie Mandel, and Tom Bergeron – all of whom are also nominees in the new category of best reality host. Seacrest is up for American Idol, Klum for Project Runway, Probst for Survivor, Mandel for Deal or No Deal and Bergeron for Dancing With the Stars.

This sounds like an ego trip & mess waiting to happen if you ask me.  You think Ryan Seacrest is going to share the limelight w/ anyone and smile about it?  The only cable TV host to get selected is Klum, which isn’t too surprising since “Love of Money” is a tanker on VH1.

The idea to have 5 hosts is certainly unique and should make the awards show a little more interesting, but how about going with no host and just letting the presenters do their thing?  Isn’t that basically what the show consists of anyway? Giving out Emmy awards??

There are reports that Shia LaBeouf is not at fault for the accident that resulted in his DUI arrest.  Apparently, another car ran a red light at the intersection where the car accident occurred.  Regardless of who was at fault, Shia could be facing jail time for the offense and/or will see some time in a courtroom w/ his lawyers.

LaBeouf also had numerous surgeries on his hand, which the Transformers 2 star injured in the accident.  Production on the movie has halted due to the visible cast/coverings on his hands.  Also involved in the accident was a co-star in the new movie (not Megan Fox).  Umm… what were they doing driving around at 3AM together?

Today’s “stud” actor, Shia LaBeouf, was arrested for a DUI early Sunday morning at the scene of a crash, involving his Ford F-150 truck. LaBeouf, who starred in the summer’s Indiana Jones movie and is working on Transformers 2 (he starred in #1 also), has everything going his way - until today.

Let’s hope that Shia will learn from these mistakes and quit thinking that he’s invincible. Sure, he can buy a nice house, new cars and score w/ just about any woman between 15-40, but he’s gotta start acting like an adult, otherwise, he’s going to be screwed. If he fails to improve his attitude and his decision making, he’s going to end up in the same place many other promising Hollywood actors are - DEAD. Whether it is drinking and driving, drug use or suicide, it would seem that all the signs are there for this kid.

His family and/or career advisors need to put their foot down and get LaBeouf into a rehab facility or into reality. An actor of his stature should not be drinking & driving at 3AM in the morning. Where are his people when he’s out that late?

Actor Mark Wahlberg and his fiancee Rhea Durham are expecting a baby in September. This is the 3rd child for the couple, so they are no stranger to being parents. Kind of surprising that they’re not married, but in Hollywood, marriage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be anyway.
