Goo-Goo For Gaga? The Lady Continues Monster Ball Tour

The music world’s latest superstar is Lady Gaga. Welcome to her Monster Ball.

Lady Gaga certainly knows how to put on a show. Her Monster Ball Tour, which began on the 27th of November, comes to Europe next month with an inaugural date in Manchester on the 18th of February. The tour continues throughout February and March, winding up the UK leg with dates in Birmingham, Sheffield and Nottingham.

Prior to the launch of the Monster Ball Tour, Poker Face Lady Gaga let fans know to expect an “expensive-looking, delicious show” for an average ticket price. “I’ve got super loyal fans, so I feel this tremendous obligation to take care of them,” she told Rolling Stone magazine.

The concerts feature an opera theme, which Lady Gaga explains thusly: “The theatrics and story elements are in the style of an opera. Imagine if you could take the sets of an opera, which are very grand and very beautiful, and put them through a pop-electro lens.”

While discussing the stage design, Ms Gaga stated, “The design of the show is very, very forward; very, very innovative. I’ve been thinking about ways to play with the shape of this stage and change the way that we watch things. So what I’ve done is, I’ve designed a stage with Haus of Gaga (Lady Gaga’s behind-the-scenes creative team) that is essentially a frame with forced perspective, and the frame is put inside the stage.”

Lady Gaga’s fans, affectionately known as her “Little Monsters”, have made her one of the biggest success stories of the previous year.”Bad Romance”, her recent single, went to the top of the charts in Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, Sweden and Finland, whilst going to number two in the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Italy.

Lady Gaga also saw great success at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home nine awards including Video of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for her single “Poker Face”, and Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction for “Paparazzi”.
